RoMaDyn structural vibration analysis focuses upon how the static properties of a machine, its components and surroundings, interact with the machinery dynamic forces. The dynamic reaction properties are determined through structural vibration measurements and analytically predicted via computer modeling methods.
Modal measurements are used to determine structural dynamic stiffness and damping characteristics of a machine and are also used to determine the system natural frequencies and “mode shapes” of the machine, its components or foundation. In this testing the machine is subjected to known mechanical forces and its vibration response to these forces is measured at critical locations in prescribed directions.
Our analytical methods for determining the modal properties of a machine to forces uses the determined dynamic properties of the machine and its components and interfaces these properties between the system components and the dynamic properties of the foundation. This information is incorporated into an analytical computer model of the machine and its surroundings and used calculate natural frequencies, mode shapes, structural dynamic stiffness and structural damping. Our analytical approach has an advantage over plain modal measurements when effectiveness of proposed corrective actions must be evaluated. Evaluating a potential corrective action by making physical modification to the machine can be expensive and time consuming. In contrast, potential corrective actions can be evaluated by performing structural design modifications to the analytical model and assessing their effects without costly and time consuming modifications to the machine.
